I’m Dave Waring, co-creator of BrainDrive, and I’m thrilled you’ve joined us on this journey toward true AI ownership.

What is BrainDrive?

BrainDrive is your open-source, self-hosted ChatGPT alternative that you own, control, and build on.

With Big Tech AI systems you’re their user. With BrainDrive you’re the owner.

We’re on a mission to build a superior user-owned alternative to Big Tech AI systems. An alternative built of the following 4 pillars:

  3. Empowerment — Your BrainDrive is easy to use, customize, and build on.
  4. Sustainability — BrainDrive is financed through value creation, not platform lockin.

Why we chose this mission

We lost control of our digital data and knowledge to Big Tech companies in the last phase of the internet.

And they’ve used that control to share our data without our permission, earn billions selling our data to advertisers, and supress free speech.

Big Tech AI systems like Chat GPT are putting this trend on steroids.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The components needed to create a superior user-owned alternative to Big Tech AI systems already exist.

They just haven’t yet been pulled together in a manner that’s easy for the average person to use.

That’s what were working to do here at BrainDrive. To make it easy for anyone to build, control, and benefit from their own AI system.

So we can stop using and benefiting Big Tech AI systems, and start using and benefiting from our own AI systems instead.
